I am sooo pleased to have found this group. The focus of all of my work since retiring a year ago has been on social justice and education. I even developed and taught a graduate course on it at Ryerson University here in Toronto. Determined to go through this whole process really mindfully and to reflect twice a week on the process in a blog the theme of social justice work comes up over and over again. How do I become involved in some of these incredible projects?

    Hi all,
As we collaborate with our colleagues in various regions we are hearing these issues coming up and the need to address them. Here in Canada our unions try to address inequities in education and as educators, many of us fight for it daily. However in other regions in the world, strong gender, cultural, economical, and political barriers are faced. At the grassroots, we hear the messages and the needs and know that change can be affected here. But for transformative and systemic change to happen, the change needs to move up to the curriculum and training levels. We are working to be that vehicle to help the messages of the rural teachers reach these levels.
