Social Issues in Education

How do we address issues and sensitivities like poverty, cultural history, gender biases, etc. so that we can improve the access to quality education.

Isn't this what education is all about - in learning specific skills but developing a critical consciousness about how we are organized differently on the basis of race, class, gender, sexuality, ableism etc. to benefit us differently? It is all about power relations and each one of us has some agency to organize ourselves in other ways so that we can all benefit more equitably.

    Greetings:

I think that civic education that has an emphasis on civil discourse and civil behavior is a prerequisite to ensuring equity in education and the peaceful resolution of social problems. I also think that the principles of the EARTH CHARTER have the potential of serving as the philosophical and moral underpinnings of civic education.
