We are writing to let you know about an exciting initiative that brings together sport and social justice issues in the classroom this month. We hope that you will be able to share information about this initiative with your teacher colleagues within your association.
Every year in April, the Global Campaign for Education organizes Global Action Week to draw attention to the millions of children, youth and adults who cannot realize their human right to receive a quality education. In 2009, 15,000 students across Canada joined over 14 million others worldwide to take part in the BIG READ campaign and demand that leaders keep their promises to ensure the right to education.
Global Action Week 2010 is fast upon us, and we are writing to invite your school to join this international movement and take part in 1GOAL: Lesson for All on April 20, 2010. In over 100 countries all over the world, global soccer stars and celebrities will join with millions of children in support of everyone having the chance to go to school and learn. As well as having a fun event on this important issue, we hope to make history by setting a new World Record for the biggest ever simultaneous lesson.
We hope you will consider taking part in this exciting activity in support of giving every child the chance and hope in life that an education brings. Register your participation to receive campaign updates, and please share your Global Action Week plans with us – we love to hear from you!
