Dr. Carolin Rekar Munro, CHRP, CTDP, is Associate Professor in the Faculty of Management at Royal Roads University (RRU) serving as intellectual lead for Leadership and Human Resources Management. Carolin is President of RRU’s Faculty Association, active member of the MBA task force revitalizing curriculum for residencies and online learning, co-facilitator of an organizational engagement initiative at RRU, and member of the faculty bargaining team. Carolin is also an adjunct professor teaching in the MA program at Central Michigan University.

Carolin brings experience designing, facilitating, and evaluating classroom-based and online courses. Her teaching portfolio includes: Organizational Behaviour, Organizational Change & Development, Leadership Development, Industrial Psychology, Quantitative & Qualitative Research, Labour Relations, Health & Safety, Compensation, Training & Development, and Recruitment & Selection.

Carolin held senior Human Resources positions in the private and public sectors accountable for strategic planning and implementation; labour relations, including collective bargaining for both management and union; organizational change and sustainability, compensation; enhancing staff engagement; developing succession planning initiatives; and championing initiatives to enhance multi-generational collaborations. Carolin has managed a successful practice supporting leaders in change management, organizational renewal, strategic planning, performance management, health and safety, succession planning, and teambuilding; with a client base throughout Canada, U.S., and South America in manufacturing, telecommunications, education, health care, retail, non-profit, and hospitality.

From the University of Toronto, Carolin received her Master and Doctoral degrees with a focus on Developing HR and Leadership. She also has a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation, a Certified Training and Development (CTDP) designation, and is a certified consultant in Values-Based Leadership. Carolin was recipient of the Ross A. Hennigar Memorial Award granted by the Ontario HR Association in recognition of business, academic, and community achievements.

Her published work includes developing and sustaining high performance teams; ROI from learning and development initiatives; leadership models for transitioning teams to interdependence; best practices in teaching and learning, wellness management of Human Resources practitioners; and mentoring Generation Y. Carolin’s textbook on Human Resources Management was published in early 2010 and she is currently working on her next book on Generation Y leadership. Carolin is Director of Certification and member of the National Steering Committee for the Canadian Society for Training and Development, Chair of the Roundtable for the BC HR Association, and member of the Educational Standards and Accreditation Committee for the Human Resources Professionals Association of Ontario.
