Skills & Interests
My skills develop from my ares of expertise. Through various culturally and educationally diverse situations, I have refined my ability to communicate and work collaboratively with all different people. Having started a youth group focusing on ethical consumption in Victoria, I have learned how to motivate and encourage community engagement in youth at various levels of understanding regarding international relations. I am interested in continuing my work supporting youth.
Secondly, while working in Lusaka, Zambia I found a growing trend of schools unable to find teachers to fill their classrooms, and young people not being able to afford to go to school to receive their teaching's certificate. I would like to work in any way I can to help build a bridge between potential teachers and universities in rural areas, as well as supporting community education.
If you have done work internationally, where and in what capacity?
- Volunteered as an educator for three months in Northern Thailand
-Recently volunteered in Zambia for 6 months supporting teachers and community education with YWCA and Kwasha Mukwenu grandmothers in Lusaka.
-Worked with Victoria International Development Education Association as Education Coordinator, organizing community events, working with local youth and developing curriculum regarding migrant labour and fair trade.
If you are willing to volunteer, in what area(s):
curriculum development, digital media, fund-raising, grant research/writing, internships, membership outreach, researchers, workshop facilitation
How did you hear about us and a few words why you want to join EBB:
I found out about EBB though searches with our local school district for organizations that focus on providing access to education in rural areas. This is where my experience and passion has lead me and continues to drive my future goals. I have many skills I think would be applicable, and am keen to learn and try new ideas.
