Skills & Interests
I have worked professionally as a storyteller in a number of countries. I spent three months in Kenya collecting folk tales from people in villages.
I have worked at a university as a teacher educator.
If you have done work internationally, where and in what capacity?
KENYA (Kakamega) My wife and I were there in 2006 for three months and then again in 2008 for 2 months. In 2006 I visited a number of villages and with the help of a retired teacher and another educator, I collected stories from old people and also from secondary students. On our last visit, we conducted qualitative research on nine village schools operated by ACCES, an NGO founded in Surrey, B.C. (www.acceskenya.org).
We have visited many small village schools, some with mud walls and dirt floors, and have been guests in homes ranging from prosperous business people to the poorest villagers.
If you are willing to volunteer, in what area(s):
workshop facilitation, evaluation, organisational partnerships
How did you hear about us and a few words why you want to join EBB:
I cannot remember where I heard of you! I must be on your list as you sent me an e mail about the new web site.

My wife and I enjoyed our work (voluntary) in Kenya and are interested in doing similar work elsewhere. Note: we also paid our own way to Kakamega and were responsible for our living expenses whilst there. We were provided with accommodation rent free. We are certainly not looking for a cheap holiday.
