Education Beyond Borders

From the 15th to the 20th of January 2013 the digital ambassadors from various countries, under the auspices British Council, had a workshop at the glossy Elion Hotel in Ikoyi (Nigeria).

For four days the participants coming from Senegal, Ghana, Sierra Leone and from other parts of Nigeria such as Abuja, with the help of facilitators such as Dan Otedo and Twalib from Kenya, explored issues related to better and more efficient ways of  ICT integration education.

Contents of the training:

  1. Introduction to ICT
  2. ICT for professional networking
  3. Using ICT for international projects
  4. E-safety

After exploring these various topics in the past four days participants learned;

  • better ways of integrating ICT in their teaching techniques
  • how to better network with other teachers from around the world
  • how to initiate new online collaborative projects
  • the various issues related to internet security, protection and copyright aspects for their students and families when uploading or downloading files from the Internet.

Global Citizenship has also been explored by the participants (mainly teachers) in the frame of the professional development online courses offered by the British Council Schools Online website. As a consequence participants have gained a better understanding and knowledge of Global Citizenship and how to help young learners become better citizens of the world.

The workshop was a total success thanks to the talented, creative facilitators who tirelessly guided us through these online resources.
