Making Global Connections on our ning

We have had an incredible first semester - joining up with a class in Croatia, a group of kids from the Street Project in Uganda, and experts all over. We are also working with Lucy Buck - who developed childsi foundation to help orphans in Uganda.
We are anxious to start working with these kids in South Africa as well, through Education Beyond Borders.

This was our first encounter with Cape Town.
Here is our ning - talk.ed .. our home base for groups forming, etc. Here is our voicethread - school ... a collection of all we have been doing... notice slide 43 is Noble...slide 45 is when we skyped with the teachers in South Africa this summer.

Here is a post the group in Croatia wrote about our collaborations.

This semester we have a student composer, who just finished another piece, we are planning to skype a video of musicians from all over playing it.. Let us know if you have any really good musicians who can read music... (so far we have uganda, istanbul, croatia, colorado...)

Besides Skype and Ning and Voicethread, we have found these tools most beneficial for virtual collaborations... dabbleboard, thatquiz and quizlet.

I'd also like to share an email I got yesterday from my dear friend who has been asked to go to Haiti and do a medical assessment of the situation to prepare for several medical teams that will be going there as well. Please pass this email on to anyone you know that might help her help Haiti. She leaves tonight.
