In trail of the successful Regional Conference of e learning in Kenya (March 2010), The Kenya ICT Trust Fund has partnered with Designmate http://www.designmate.com , maker of the Eureka 3D e- content to fast track and promote innovations in education through the use of ICT’s .
The Kenya ICT Trust Fund in promoting Elearning in Kenyan schools has duly offset 40% of Ksh.60 million software cost for 100 licences of award winning Eureka software, to be given as an incentive package e-ready Kenyan Schools and Digital Villages on pilot basis. The chosen e-ready schools and Digital Villages will pay the subsidized Ksh 360,000 in the pilot phase.
The Kenya ICT Trust Fund is ready to investment time and resources hence coordinate bulk acquisition of Eureka 3DeContent for Digital Villages in Kenya as well as building the capacity of Teachers the Digital Village Managers to enable them gainfully manage Eureka 3D content. Eureka 3D content has a unique combination of over 4000 video animations, images, texts, simulations and use of graphics to simplify concepts of Science, Maths, Biology, Physics and Chemistry.
Eureka will be a crucial tool and shot in the arm in the SMASSE - INSET programs in Kenya. I am currently working work closely with the Centre for Mathematics Sciences and Technology in Africa (CEMASTEA) to embed Eureka in the CEMASTEA INSET program within the CEMASTEA work plan for the strategic period 2009 – 2013.
I also hope to have the Eureka 3D e-Content installed in all the teacher Training Colleges and Universities in Kenya to be used in the training teachers as well as providing bridging courses in mathematics and Sciences.
