Education Beyond Borders responds to requests for partnerships to enhance teacher and community education. We collaborate on providing professional development programs for teachers, and training volunteers as local facilitators, able to design and deliver workshops for their colleagues and thus sustain in-service professional development initiatives in their area. It is through strategic partnerships that we can leverage the skills and expertise of the various stakeholders, making efficient use of resources for optimal outcomes.
We believe that professional development opportunities lead to
better teaching practices being implemented in the classroom, and, therefore,
improved learning and well-being for students, both in the classroom and beyond.
As we collaborate with colleagues across cultures and school systems, we learn from each other, enhancing our own skills in the classroom, and our reflection as teachers.
EBB’s strength is its volunteer base and its ability to network. Our volunteers bring with them a wide range of interests and skills as well as connections to local communities in under-resourced regions, which may lead to requests for in-service training programs. Once the idea of a program materializes, it is vetted against our sustainability and capacity-building criteria before being initiated. We then work together to develop strategies to address community challenges through teacher professional development activities, adapted to local needs, either in-country or remotely, and actively seek partnerships with other organizations.
